Perched
a top 5 Km. long saddle shaped ridge of Kashaya
Hill, Almora was chosen by Raja Bhishm Chandaas his
new capital in the late 15th century AD. Facin the
gigangic Trishul massif, the region had also found
favour with the preceding dynasties of Kunindas and
the Katykuris who have left behind many exquisite
temples renowned for their architectural grandeur.
The
town Almora is a picturesque. Hill resort of the
Kumaon region often snow caphed peaks of Himalayas
Range. It is also laking point of Binsar Mahadev,
Baij Nath Temple etc. its most of the people
visit here for re-gaining health vitality. The main
area of shopping is Mall Road on which you can
purchase a special "mithai" of the place
and other woolen handicrafts, like shawl, blanket,
coat and copper utensils.
