Termed as "Scotland of the
Eat" it is the Capital of Meghalaya. Located at an
altitude of 1496 meters above sea level, this beautiful

WARD'S LAKE
Located in the heart of the city,
the lake is surrounded by a garden of flowers and pine
trees and is a popular spot for walks and boating.

Shillongs 18 hole golf course is
considered one of the best in India, with a unique look
and natural surrounding.
UMIAL LAKE
17 km for Shillong is the
beautiful Umial Lake. The Orhid Lake Resort provides
Waterspout facilities which include sailing, water
skiing etc. The Lum Nehru Park lies adjacent to the
resort.
CHERRAPUNJEE
Situated 1,300 meters, above sea
level Cherrapunjee is noted for having the heaviest
rainfall in the world. A pleasant about 56 km from
Shillong with a view of the midst covered ravines will
take you to the famous Nohsngithiang falls, Nohkalikai
falls, Mawsmi caves and Tahgkharang Park.
MAWASYNRAM
56 Km from Shillong it is famous
for the gaint stalagmite formation resembling a
Shivalinga, locally called Mawjymbuin.
SHILLONG PARK
20 km. from Shillong it is the
highest point in Meghalaya which offers a panoramic
view of the scenic countryside and in the evening the
city appears like a star studded abyss.
JOWAI
The headquarters of Jaintia hills is 64 Km away
from Shillong. It is a picturesque town circled by the majestic Myntdu
river.
THADLASKEIN LAKE
56 km from Shillong was according to legend dug by
ends of bows by members of U Sajiar Niangli's clan, a rebed general of
the jaintia Raja.
SYNDAI
This village is dotted with a number of caves and
caverns and has become very popular amongest cavers and adventure
tourists.
TURA
Headquarters of Gargo hills Tura has a picturesque
relatively untouched landscape of hills against a backdrop of low lying
plains, with the mighty river Brahmaputra making sweeping curves as it
flows towards Bangladesh.
BALPAKRAM
National Wildlife Park 167 km from Tura known as
the abode of perpetual winds. It has often been compared to the Grand
Canyon of U.S.A. for its similar precipices and gorges.
NAPHAK LAKE
Naphak Lake is located 12 km from
Tura. It is
ideal for fishing and bird watching with the river Simsang flowing
nearby.
SIJU CAVE
The famous limestone caves of Siju are located
close of Naphak Lake and the Simsang Game Reserve. The formation of
stalagmites & stalactites in these caves resemble those of the blue
Grotto in the Isle of Capris.
