Pathankot
is in the extreme north of Punjab, 107 Km. from
Amritsar is important to travellers purely as a
crossroad. Pathankot is also the Panipat and thus
founded the Mughal Empire in India. In 1556, Akbar
defeated the Pathans at the same site.
The
city is important as gateway to the charming hills
of Himachal Pradesh as Dalhousie, Chamba &
Palampur, Dharmshala, Jammu & Kashmir. The city
is also famous for Carpets and other Handicrafts
items.
