Rishikesh has attracted sages from the
earliest times who setup their ashrams on the bank
of the holy Ganga. The Ashrams have attracted a lot
of attention ever since international celebrities
came here to find solace and prase through their
age-old Hindu practices of yoga and mediation.
Today Rishikesh has become a centre of learning and
Research in yoga and mediation as an instrument of
mental and physical health.
An important feature of Rishikesh is its
many Ashrams, some are of worlds renowned. Ashrams
generally provides accommodation to visitors under
going courses of study in the Ashram or otherwise
visiting the Ashram. However, tourist, too, are
accommodated at the discretion of the management.
Rishikesh has very charming surroundings
towards the north are the lofty mountains with
mixed deciduous forests. The Ganga, after hurling
through narrow gartges stretches its shores wider
as if not to disturb the solitude of the mendicant.
Sal forests just at short distance away from the
city make it a delightful place to be in communion
with Nature and God.
LAXMAN
JHOOLA
A suspension bridge across the Ganga which
spans the river along the old foot-route to the
holy shrines of Badrinath and Kedarnath. Rhesus
monkeys throng the bridge demanding their share of
the offerings from the pilgrims.
NEEL KANTH MAHADEV
This temple is situated at a height of
5,500 ft. above sea level and is about 12 Kms
